yunnan noir
by adagio teas
(33 reviews)Yunnan Noir is a black tea from the Yunnan province of China, the birthplace of tea itself. Much of the tea in this southern province is a large leaf variety. Mountains veiled in mist, with clean water and rich soil form ideal growing conditions and contribute to the unique flavor. Our Yunnan Noir is a hand-rolled tea, with leaves tightly curled into a 'black snail' shape. The aroma is sweet with hints of honey and spice. Savory and winey on the palate, with smooth, deep fruity astringency, tremendous depth of flavor, cinnamon bark and nutmeg in the finish. Terrifically textured cup of tea. Steep at 212°F for 3-5 minutes

Un te con aroma dulces con toques a miel y especias y sabor de astringencia frutal, las especias impregnan toda la taza en las que resalta la canela

I love the curly leaves and to watch them unfurl. The flavor is very yummy. It has a light sweetness that lingers. I quite like it and could drink several cups but I need to savor it because it's just that good.

I'm not a fan of black tea, but they're usually ok to have a few sips. This one had an earthy flavor and I had to add creamer and sugar. Not for me.

I typically drink Irish breakfast tea and wanted a change. This is perfect! It is a strong, bold black tea and no bitterness. Great with milk.

This is my go to black tea. Bold enough to be a coffee replacement but smoother than other blacks that can be oversteeped or atringent

Update 1/4/24 this time around I found this blend musky and kind of gross, bad batch perhaps.
Just a fantastic black tea, no bitterness at all, could easily be in the Master series, Had 2 steeps worth and just as good the second time

A delicious malty-flavored black tea that provides 3 full steeps of wonderful tea. I highly recommend this!

Lovely malty flavor. Reminds me of the tea my mom kept in a tin in her kitchen when I was a child. Love it! A staple in my tea stash. Mellow, relaxing, malty goodness!

This tea is so smooth and delicious. The malty richness is great, and there is absolutely no bitterness. (195F for 3min)

Every Yunnan I've tried from Adagio is delicious, and this is no exception! It has a malty and strongly honey flavor that lingers on the tongue after you drink it. The color is a rich reddish brown. No astringency at all, even though the second steep I forgot about it and left it in the infuser for a loooong time. I am definitely ordering some more of this. Ten pinkies up!

This is a favorite black tea in our home. The flavor is refreshing and slightly astringent in the best way. If steeped at about 185 degrees for 3 minutes the cup is smooth and refreshing without bitterness. An excellent black tea hot or over ice.

A romantic experience from beginning to end. It carries a lot of the same flavor I love about Adagio's Black Dragon Pearls, but more subtle. Somehow this tea is never bitter. It's an earthy, dry sip and beautiful to watch steep. It's like drinking art itself.

Best black tea I've ever tasted. It is the whole tea experience--from watching the leaves unfurl to sipping the smooth, flavorful, non-bitter tea. The Yunnan Noir stands up to multiple infusions, too. What's not to love?

Remarkably smooth, this tea is full of wonderful layers of honey and slight cinnamon. It has a refined taste, perfect for any occasion.

I don't know if it's just me but this tea didn't taste as textured as others have made it out to be. There were also comments about fruit and honey notes but all I could taste was a wallop of honey on every sip. It's not terrible but not to my taste.

This is a wonderful black tea. It's smooth and rich and full-flavored without a hint of bitterness.

This is the perfect cup of black tea. It is smooth and sweet and everything you want a black tea to be. I added sugar and cream to make it even more delicious.

Very good. Smoother than a lot of other black teas out there. A personal favorite of mine. Cheaper than most of the similar golden blacks too so the cost/quality ratio is especially good

Wonderful Dian Hong. Strong notes of malt and chocolate. Could drink this all day every day.

This is my absolute favorite black tea. It is bold but smooth and naturally sweet. I don't add anything to it. It tastes rich and thick, but the price tag isn't too bad!

Mildly bitter and round in flavor, this tea is one of my favorite mild ones I've tried. Totally a drink-again and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to shy away from the more strong bitter teas like scottish breakfast.

I love STRONG teas: Lapsang Souchong in the morning and Scottish Breakfast in the afternoon. When I want a smooth and elegant cup in the day, Yunnan Noir is my new turn to.

This tea reminds me of Teavana's Golden Monkey. (I haven't tried adagio's Golden Monkey yet.) It's very smooth. Tried it with honey the second time around, and it was delicious.

This is my go-to black tea. It's strong but not harsh, just the thing to get me going in the morning.

Steeping this one the correct amount takes time and patience, but the end result is a warm, earthy tea that's a great replacement for Teavana's Indonesian Gold.
