wuyi da hong pao
by adagio teas
(11 reviews)Da Hong Pao is an oolong tea from the WuYi Mountains in the Fujian province of China. It grows defiantly in the gaps of the mountain boulders, which endow it with the highly prized 'yan yun' or mineral 'rock taste.' Our premium-grade Wuyi Da Hong Pao offers rich aromas of roasted vegetables, sweet honey and wet stones. The liquor is equally intriguing, colored as warm peach brandy. Delicately spicy, robust and rounded texture, with pit-fruit flavors and subtle ripe peach juiciness. A truly thought-provoking cup. Steep at 212°F for 4 minutes

This is like a bit more developed version of the Fujian Rain oolong I drink all the time from adagio. It's a little more subtle on the mineral notes, and it's got some warmer undertones along with it.

I tried this tea on a whim as it was on sale and it immediately became a new favorite! The insistent earthy flavor evokes autumn rain to me. This tea is complex and full of character, which doesn't diminish on a second steeping. Not an on-the-go tea for the travel mug - you'll want to take the time to savor this one.

This tea has wonderful mineral flavors within a beautiful dark liquor. It steeped well for a second time.

I absolutely adored this tea. It has many layers of flavor and nuances. A lovely peach flavor comes through well along with mineral tastes to balance it.

Pretty full green leaves were lovely when unfurled and the liquid was a nice peachy-yellow color. Flavor was very light earthy-mineral.

I'm new to oolongs, but this is my favourite so far! Well worth every penny. So rich and flavourful, a nice mineral taste without being weird. Made me go wow when I first tried it, and understand why people are so passionate about oolongs.

It was a good cup, but not quite what I was expecting. It's almost a little to "smoky" flavored for me. I like it but there are many others I likr bettet.

This tea was fine, but not overly special or worth the extra cost in my opinion. It was very light in flavor, and a little more grassy than I prefer. It also did not steep well a second time, almost no flavor at all.
