himalayan hand-rolled black tea
by stash tea
An autumnal flush tea with a mild, light sweetness. Mellow and pleasant, perfect for day-long sipping. This premium quality black tea is grown by the Jun Chiyabari Tea Garden in the eastern Himalayan region of Nepal. Jun Chiyabari works with small farmers in this area who grow the tea and encourages them to use environmentally responsible practices. The Garden, established in 2001, is located at 6,000-feet-elevation and is approximately 120 miles east from Kathmandu and 40 miles west of Darjeeling in India. The processing method is unique to Jun Chiyabari and a closely held secret. As the tea's name suggests, however, an integral part of the process involves rolling the tender leaves by hand to break down the cell walls to release the enzymes needed to produce the tea.
